Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy Statement

Purpose and Scope

At Maths Online Tutoring, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people who access our tutoring services, whether in person or online. We believe every learner has the right to feel safe, respected, and supported in their educational journey.

This policy applies to all staff and associates, including tutors, managers, admin personnel, volunteers, and contractors working with children and young people in any capacity, across both in-person and online tutoring environments.

This policy is informed by relevant legislation and statutory guidance in England, including:

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

We believe that:

● All children and young people, regardless of background or ability, have a right to protection from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

● The safety and welfare of the child is paramount.

● Safeguarding is a shared responsibility that must be upheld by everyone involved in our organisation.

We recognise that:

● Both online and in-person tutoring sessions can create unique vulnerabilities.

● Additional care must be taken in one-to-one environments to maintain professional boundaries and safe working practices.

● Effective safeguarding requires transparency, accountability, and communication with children, parents/carers, and external agencies.

How We Keep Children and Young People Safe

We will seek to protect learners by:

● Ensuring all tutors and staff are fully vetted and have an enhanced DBS check before delivering tutoring.

● Appointing a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and a Deputy to manage safeguarding concerns.

● Providing safeguarding induction and ongoing training to all tutors and staff.

● Using only secure, approved platforms for online tutoring, and following clear protocols for online safety.

● Ensuring online sessions are recorded or monitored where appropriate.

● Following clear boundaries and professional conduct in both virtual and face-to-face sessions.

Keeping accurate and confidential records of all safeguarding concerns or incidents.

● Making this policy accessible to all staff, learners, and families, and encouraging open communication.

● Working in partnership with parents, carers, schools, and external agencies where necessary.

● Regularly reviewing our safeguarding procedures to ensure best practice and compliance with current guidance.
